Nice to meet you! Meet our team...
The Zealous Good team is small but mighty. We're all here because we believe in making it easier and more meaningful for charities and donors to connect. Bascially we all want to make the world a better place and have fun along the way. Please say hello!
Brittany Martin Graunke, Founder & CEO (email@example.com)
While she was born in Chicago, Brittany moved nine times across five countries before her family settled in Dallas. Brittany returned to the Midwest to study industrial engineering at Northwestern University. Before starting Zealous Good, she worked at Bain & Company as a management consultant and United Way of Metropolitan Chicago as the strategic engagement manager. She is passionate about people (which she credits to her nomadic childhood) and using engineering to make the world a better place. Brittany also loves spending time with her wonderful husband, Jerry, running with their dog April, and starting the occasional sporadic dance party.
Jesse Mavi, Operations and Outreach Director (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Jesse was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He stayed in the midwest and studied finance and business at Northern Illinois University. Before joining Zealous Good in its early days, he was a resource development intern at Opportunity International. Since taking a class on social entrepreneurship Jesse has become really interested in companies that are using technology to improve people's lives and change the world. Outside of Zealous Good Jesse enjoys playing golf, taking fitness classes and watching basketball.
Laura Wilkens, Community Engagement Director (email@example.com)
Laura was born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago. She has been a Blackhawks fan since Doug Wilson didn’t have to wear a helmet. Laura has a degree in Child and Family Services and a varied background in Human Services. The combination of her love for recycling and social service is what drew her to community outreach at Zealous Good. She is a bit of a color freak and currently has 11 different colors painted in her home. She enjoys design shows with her teenage twin daughters, and traveling with her husband, Rick. Laura is an avid reader and loves discussing a great book or movie.
Amanda Burkey, Community Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Amanda may be living in Omaha, but her heart is in Chicago. The only thing she loves more than the Windy City are her beloved Creighton University Bluejays. She graduated from Creighton and began working as a copywriter and social media specialist for an Omaha-based E-commerce site. When she isn't busy tweeting, Amanda loves to ride her bike, take spontaneous trips and look forward to the day she can finally adopt that puppy. Oh, and Go Blackhawks!
Michelle Retson, Community Engagement Manager (email@example.com)
Michelle is an Indiana native – a Boilermaker, not a Hoosier – whose first career as a landscape architect brought her to the “City in a Garden”, Chicago. Though her career path has changed, she still enjoys tree-hugging and is a big advocate of the “green” aspect of Zealous Good. When not helping at ZG, she coordinates medical mission trips and fundraising for her family’s nonprofit, Healing, Health, & Hope. She’s also a die-hard baseball fan (Go White Sox!) and takes all opportunities she has to see a baseball game in any stadium. Michelle is currently working on her MBA at the University of Chicago, and hopes to continue working in the nonprofit field as a consultant.
Lauren Anderson, Project Management Intern (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Originally hailing from Peachtree City, Georgia, Lauren moved to Illinois to attend Wheaton College, where she is a senior economics major. Ever since going to Honduras to install clean water systems her sophomore year, she’s been passionate about economic development and hopes to one day do project management for a company working overseas to alleviate poverty. When she isn’t matching goods to charities, she spends her time cooking with friends, making care packages, and getting overly invested in TV shows that have already ended.
Rebekah Williams, Non-Profit Outreach Intern (email@example.com)
A native of sunny Trinidad and South Carolina, Rebekah’s still not quite sure why she’s braving the wind and cold of Chicago. Rebekah’s currently a junior at Northwestern studying sociology and global health. In addition to working with the Zealous Good team, Rebekah is a co-chair on the Global Engagement Summit staff, a 5-day training conference for young social entrepreneurs and innovators worldwide. After graduation she would like to use her degree to work in impactful public health education and advocacy. On her off days she enjoys quoting “Remember the Titans” to anyone who will listen and scoring big on half-off day at the thrift store.
Clayton Sutherland, Outreach Intern
Clayton is a senior at Governors State University and is planning to graduate in May with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and minors in Management and Entrepreneurship. He grew up in Phoenix, AZ and moved to the Chicagoland area 4 years ago. In his spare time Clayton boxes and spends time with his girlfriend, Lauryn. Clayton developed his love for helping people after rebuilding houses in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina and renovating a youth camp in Wisconsin.
Alex Manella, Design Lead
Alex discovered his passion for the Arts while growing up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. While sharpening his illustrative chops, Alex was introduced to the world of graphic design eventually leading him to Columbia College. Shortly after graduation, Alex’s love of sports resulted in him “bringing his talents” to the Bulls/Sox Academy. Even more recently joining the team here at Zealous Good. Outside of work you can find Alex playing volleyball or trying to put a dent in his stack of unfinished paintings.
Vince Nava, Marketing Intern (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Vincent Paul Nava has been changing lives since 1991. Driven by his strong moral compass, enduring family values, and lively Filipino upbringing, Vince decided to move to Chicago from his sunny Southern California home and pursue a degree in Advertising and PR at DePaul University in 2012. Before starting at Zealous Good, Vince had worked as a sales consultant for Subaru and Acura, learning the powerful ways of connections. He has also worked as a server for an all Vegan restaurant (crazy Californians) and as a cashier for KFC (sounds more like it). When Vince is not spreading the Zealous Good message, you can find him hitting up the dance floor or eating at your favorite restaurant. Most importantly, you'll always find Vince smiling--his genuine smile is sure to light up anyone's heart.
